Second grade

Hello, and welcome to the Second Grade page!  My name is Mrs. Leamy, and I am excited to begin the new school year!

My teaching career began with the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, where I received five years of excellent training and mentoring. I returned to my parish school to work closer to home. It’s a blessing when your personal and professional lives parallel each other.  

My daughter graduated from St. Joseph School and Salesian High School. It is a testament to my belief in Catholic education in educating the whole child. 

As a teacher, I have high expectations for my students and strive to create a safe, nurturing environment to foster enduring positive attitudes about learning. I use many instructional strategies so every student can experience success. Students learn to set goals and reflect upon their work—they acquire a growth mindset. With the growth mindset, “I can’t do it” is rephrased with “I can’t do it yet.” The power of “yet” is remarkable. 

I received a bachelor’s degree in liberal studies from California State University, East Bay. I have a clear California Multiple Subjects Credential and an English Learner Authorization. I also have an associate’s degree in fashion design from FIDM, and teaching is my second career. I didn't discover my love for teaching until I was in my forties!

I thank you in advance for entrusting me with your most precious possession. We’ll have a great year, and under the direction of Father Geoffrey and Mrs. A, I look forward to partnering with you in educating your child.
