Altar Serving
Students in Grades 4-8 may be trained to serve their school and parish community as altar servers for school and parish Masses. The parish provides training during the year.
Faith Families and Buddies
Buddy classes are grouped as follows: TK, Kindergarten, Fourth and Eighth; First and Fifth; Second and Sixth; Third and Seventh. Faith families are made up of one student per grade level with an 8th-grade student as the lead of the family. The purpose of the buddy and faith family groups is to build a stronger faith community. Younger children especially enjoy the one-to-one attention they receive from their older buddy. As the older students assume the role of the teacher and role model, they are motivated to do their best. They also experience pride in their ability to be helpful. The younger children bond with the older buddy and friendships flourish as the year progresses.
Buddies attend mass together and meet during the school year to do activities together. Faith Families meet at the beginning of the school year, during Thanksgiving prayer service, Catholic Schools Week, Seder, and more.
This year, we are adding Education in Virtue to our Religious Education program. We believe that everyone is born with a capacity for virtue, but we need the education and practice to attain the freedom, harmony, and balance of the virtuous, excellent human being. God gives us the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity. These virtues adapt our finite human faculties for participation in the divine life, to be in relationship with God. Students, staff and parents will learn and reflect on the virtues that will ever guide our thoughts, actions and decisions we make for ourselves, and that help influence others mirroring the example of Christ.
