Welcome to St. Joseph’s Art Class! My name is Andrea Santiago, and I have the pleasure of exploring the world of art with your students from K-8th grades.
A little about me: I grew up down the street in El Sobrante, and my love for school, kids, and art brought me out to Chicago, where I attended Trinity Christian College and received my degree in K-12 Art Education and Theatre. I spent a variety of time teaching all the grade levels, but the elementary and middle school were my favorite. When I moved back to the Bay Area, I was excited to join the St Joseph’s team and teach K-8th grades. When I’m not at SJS, I am an Elementary children’s ministry director at my church. You will find me as my happiest self when on a long hike with my husband Wesley, traveling to a new place, trying new foods, or curled up with a good book and a cup of tea.
A little about Art Class: “God created you so that you can be creative.” I believe that every person can create beautiful things because we are made in the image of the ultimate creator. So, in the art classroom, I spur students to see themselves as creative and artists. Together as artists, we explore the world of art by trying unique art materials, learning about other artists from the past and present, exercising creativity and problem solving while having lots of fun. I am so excited to get to explore with your students!
