I have been an Instructional Assistant for 13 years. I have worn many hats throughout my years of service. I have been an assistant in all classes K thru 8th. I have worked in childcare before and after school. Caring for children has been my passion.
Some of my duties were:
Fundraising, starting up the library at St. Paul School, librarian, running Book Fairs, Homework Club after school, and assisted with Cross Country. Helping anywhere I could to help my community.
I started my journey in education when I sent my sons to St. Paul School in San Pablo. After my second son was in the first grade I was asked to join their team and be the assistant in the Kindergarten classroom.
I left St. Paul School in 2008 and worked for the City of Albany in Recreation. There I was a Program Leader 3. I was responsible for picking up children from school, purchasing and preparing daily snacks for the children, making sure that there was an activity or art project for the kids each day, and homework assistance. When school was out I would work during the summer at the Albany summer
camps. The best part of summer camp was the field trips. Just seeing the children light up with excitement would make you smile.
In 2016 I was asked to come back to St. Paul School to assist part-time in the 3rd grade. During that year I was asked if I could work full time and also assist in 2nd grade. Of course, I said yes.
In 2019 I decided to take a position closer to home at St. Joseph School as an assistant. Here I have gained new friends and new experiences. It has been a pleasure to work here with the students, parents, and staff. They all have been so welcoming and kind.
On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with my family. I love to travel. I love to cook and hope that one day we could have an after-school cooking club. I am a big Disney fan. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 33 years. I have two grown sons and 1 granddaughter.
