Bienvenidos a la clase de Español!
My name is Adriana Mahaffy, and it is a privilege to be the Spanish
Teacher for Saint Joseph’s school. I am looking forward to a great year of
learning and fun with your kids.
A little about me: I was born and raised in Mexico City where I attended
language school. I came to New York at the age of twenty-one to attend
college; graduating with a degree in Christian education. Soon after
graduating, I got married to my husband. We have been married twenty
six years, and we have raised two beautiful daughters, ages 24 and 21. My
husband and I dedicated over twenty years to mentoring teenagers. My happy place is a good day at the beach, playing golf, or enjoying a hike.
About my career: My passion for foreign language began at the early age
of nine when all I wanted to be was an interpreter. I have been in the
world of linguistics for the past twenty-plus years. I was a foreign
language teacher (Spanish, ESL, French) for eight years as well as an
Interpreter/Translator for the Virginia Court District. I have spent seven
years as an Analytical Linguist/Interpreter for the Federal Government,
assisting with different projects across the country.
About Spanish class: My goal is for your students to love foreign language,
as I make the learning process fun and interactive.
